London’s Hidden Gem: Tint Factory

The Tint Factory offers one of the best and most reliable window tint services in East London. Alfred first opened the Tint Factory in 1988. He was an installer and was of the best in the Greater Toronto Area. After looking for a spot to open his own shop, he decided to open in London. Dan, his son, and Lance are co-owners of the business took over the business in 2019

The shop differs from other tint shops because of their old-school techniques that aren’t taught to the new generation of tint technicians. While they use machines, Dan and Lance prefer hand-cutting because it gives the cleanest tint job you can get. In their first year of business, the pair had to deal with the aftereffects of the COVID-19 pandemic, but thankfully, due to the Tint Factory’s loyal customer base, the shop is still thriving.

“This is my favourite area; I would never leave Argyle. It’s a different sense of community. It’s very supportive and it’s a lot of blue-collar, down to earth people. That’s the demographic I like because you get that sense of loyalty and community,” said Dan.

What is a tinted window?

Window tint installation is the process of applying a thin laminate film to the inside of the glass. The result is a darkened window from the outside but clear when looking from the inside. Professional window tints can make your home or car look sleek and also have many benefits that you may not have known about.

What is the purpose of tinted windows?

Privacy

One of the most common reasons someone might choose to tint their windows is for an added sense of privacy. Window tinting in a car or a house can prevent thieves from spying on your valuable items and making you their next target.

Security

The clear film adds an extra layer of thickness to the glass and lessens the chance of glass shattering everywhere if you are involved in a car accident or if someone tries to break your house’s windows. The film can also lessen the chance of you being injured from flying shards of glass.

Did you know: Window tinting provides protection from harmful UV rays!
UV ray protection

In your car, the sun’s UV light is harmful to your skin, can damage the interior, and can make your vehicle hot on sweltering days. Adding a window tint to your car can prevent all of these issues by reducing the amount of heat that can enter your car. Tinting your home’s window improves your house’s energy efficiency and lessens your carbon footprint. In the winter, the tinted glass can help block the sunlight from reflecting into your home from the snow on the ground. With a tinted film, you can control how much of the sun’s glare you want permeating into your home, making it more comfortable for you and your family to live.

What are the window tinting laws in Ontario in 2020?

Window tinting laws exist to ensure the safety of everyone on the road. With completely blacked-out windows. Drivers wouldn’t be able to make eye contact with other drivers, cyclists, and pedestrians, making it impossible to make eye contact with each other. Window tinting laws also help police officers see drivers before they pull them over. Car tinting laws can be complicated to understand because they are different depending on the province and territory.

In Ontario, according to automotive.com, no tint is allowed on car windshields, the front windshield can have a 70 percent visible light transmission (VLT), any percentage is allowed on the backside and any tint is allowed on the rear if the vehicle has both left and right side rear-view mirrors. If you’re worried about automotive window tinting laws while travelling to different parts of Canada, it’s a safe bet to tint to side window tinting.
